1st PLACE - heather greenough

Mercedes: Make a splash, clean up trash

107 West Market Steet, York, PA

Heather Mercedes Greenough is a York County native and award-winning artist whose vibrant, animated style reflects both whimsy and depth. Born with pareidolia - the tendency to see faces and forms in inanimate objects - Heather transforms abstract shapes into striking, meaningful images, often hiding messages and miniature worlds within her work. A self-described social empath, Heather connects deeply with people and pours that connection into her “heartwork.” She collaborates with businesses and private clients on custom pieces ranging from logo designs to personal tributes, always aiming to capture the spirit of those she creates for.

2nd PLACE - Ashley Zech

Ashley: Don’t litter in my river, only rain down the drain

25 W Philadelphia Street in front of the parking garage

I’m Ashley Zech, a local fine arts and graphic designer. I’m currently employed at a local sign shop, working as a designer. I graduated from Northeastern High School, and earned a Bachelors in Fine Arts and Digital Media at Albright College, Reading, PA. I live in Felton, PA.

I grew up loving art and wanted to make things through art. I have so much to learn and grow in this amazing field. I hope my art works have an impact on people; I love to hear what they think about anything I do! I believe every piece of art can be depicted any way possible.

3rd PLACE - morgan snyder

Morgan: Poison the sea…Poison me

Southeast corner of King and George Streets, York, PA

Hello, my name is Morgan Snyder. I grew up in York, PA, and attended York College of Pennsylvania for Graphic Design. My business, Rainbow Caravan LLC, provides face painters, glitter or airbrush tattoo artists, spin art, bucket of bubbles, and bling bars for parties and events. In addition, I recently added hand-painted items to the mix: One-of-a-kind bleach art, window and sign painting, and live wedding art.

I'm currently working on a ‘anti-propaganda’ series - styled like vintage music posters, but with an earth-saving, people-loving message. Also, I’m excited to be part of a gallery-styled mural project with Ophelia's Making Agency; it will be installed in September, 2025.

I fully believe art is the greatest conversation starter and is capable of driving great change throughout the world. Art speaks through all languages and socioeconomic backgrounds...across all cultures. Art made with passion and intention speaks to our souls. Watch Morgan paint her drain!

In my spare time, my family and I love to take full advantage of all the wonderful state parks, lakes, and rivers that Pennsylvania has to offer, leaving no trace of course :)

people’s choice - Yifan Ye

Yifan: Think before you drain - Clean drain, fish remain

East side of Atlantic Ave between Wood St and Parkway Blvd after it crosses Willis Run, next to Noonan Fields, York, PA

Hello! My name is Yifan Ye. I'm a rising senior at South Western High School. Art is a big part of my life and I enjoy creating art in many forms such as sketching, drawing, painting and photography. I like sketching portraits of my family and peers. I also learned how to use alcohol markers by myself and I can say it's one of my favorite art tools to use.

At South Western, I'm in different choral ensembles and play the piano, as well as being a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Key Club, Mini-Thon, Link Crew, Technology Student Association and Girls Tennis.

I've been participating in this contest for 4 years and I'm grateful for the experience, designing and getting the chance to painting a drain. This is a meaningful event because it lets more and more people become aware of stormwater pollution.
